The Para dance sport World Championships season begins in Hong Kong, China, from 22-23 March with the World Para Dance Sport International Competition.

Dancing at home are two of their country’s greatest medal hopes – Susanna So Tze Yan   and Pui Yin Lee.

The couple are the new combi Latin class 1 and 2 Asian champions from Astana, Kazakhstan. Yan and Lee also left Astana with silver in the combi standard class 1 and 2.

Their compatriots lining up this weekend include Asian bronze medallists from the combi freestyle class 1 Yee Ting Lui and Wo Chau Wong and Ka Yun Li and Kin Hung Wong, medallists from the combi freestyle class 2.

Kazakhstan’s Aidana Beglenova and Yermek Kalymbetov return to the pistes for the first time since a successful Asian Championships campaign at home at the end of 2024.

The pair picked up the regional title in the combi freestyle class 1 and silver in the combi Latin class 1 and 2.

Kalymbetov also danced to gold alongside Aidana Mukanova in the duo Latin, duo standard and duo freestyle class 1 and 2. On his own in the singles freestyle class 2 Kalymbetov went home with silver.

Pawel Karpinski of Poland remains a one to watch in the men’s singles. He is the European silver medallist and Worlds bronze medallist in the single conventional class 2.

Meanwhile Karpinski and Magdalena Matusiak are the World Championships bronze and European silver medallists in the duo Latin class 2.

Their compatriots Michal Ciok and Katarzyna Nowokunska are the reigning European champions in the combi freestyle class 2.

Margalit Tomer of Israel shines wherever she goes and this competition is expected to be no different. Tomer is the European champion in the women’s single conventional class 1, silver medallist from the freestyle.

Tomer and partner Halaf Oriel are the reigning regional champions in both the combi freestyle and Latin class 1.

More than 80 athletes from 13 countries are set to grace the dancefloor in Hong Kong from 22-23 March.

The competition kicks off an exciting season that will feature a total of five World Cups and International Competitions, culminating in the Para Dance Sport World Championships from 21-23 November in Kosice, Slovakia.
