Storylines to follow: Kosice 2026 Para dance sport World Cup
04/09/2026
The first and only World Cup of 2026 is set to take place in Kosice, Slovakia, from Saturday (2 September), following International Competitions in The Netherlands, a junior World Cup in Türkiye and straight off the back of August's World Abilitysport Guttmann Games.
Acting as another useful preview for this year’s biggest competition – the European Championships in Oristano, Italy, from 18-23 November – Kosice 2026 is not to be missed.
Check out some of the storylines to follow this weekend.
Ultimate pairing
Israel’s Margalit Tomer and Oriel Halaf are as decorated as they are captivating to watch.
The pair are returning to the scene of their world title-winning victory from 2025 in the combi Latin class 1. They also clinched silver in the combi freestyle last November.
On her own, Tomer is also a regular on the podium. Most recently she took World Championships silver in the women’s singles and singles freestyle class 1.
These four medals represented a dazzling sweep of events and Tomer and Halaf will be looking to achieve the same, if not better, this weekend.

Polish power couple
Tomer and Halaf are not the only couple to be returning to Kosice with Worlds medals in their glitter-filled pockets.
Poland’s Pawel Karpinski and Katarzyna Nowokunska claimed gold in the duo Latin class 2 in Kosice less than 12 months ago. And Karpinski is one of the dance sport’s most accomplished performers who will compete in Oristano as a podium finisher from the men’s singles and men’s singles freestyle class 2.
Nowokunska meanwhile is Karpinski’s partner but also a rising star on her own, is also the silver medallist from the open junior singles class 2 and a top five finisher from the womens singles freestyle class 2 at Kosice 2025.
Chinese Taipei too
Chinese Taipei’s Wen Hui Yang is one of Asia’s most impressive movers. He is the Asian Championships silver medallist from 2024 in the men’s singles freestyle class 2 and secured Worlds bronze in the singles and singles freestyle last year.
In the couples events Yang and partner Yu Yen Wu just missed out on the podium in 2025 but registered a solid fourth place in the combi freestyle class 1.
Vision impaired dancers take the stage
Dancers with vision impairments will compete in Kosice ahead of their European Championships debut in Oristano.
From 18-23 November, the very first regional titles will be won in Sardinia. The historic occasion will follow pilots and experimentation at several international events.
Catch these amazing dancers on Saturday as they compete in the combi standard.

Do not miss these dancers too…
On his own, Neutral Para Athlete Igor Davydov is the returning world champion in the men’s singles class 1, whilst Maksim Sedakov and Galina Ryzhkova, also Neutral Para Athletes, are double world title holders from the duo standard class 2 and duo freestyle class 2
Kosice 2026 will get underway on Saturday (5 September) with the men’s and women’s singles, open and junior freestyle in class 1, 2 and powerchair, and the combi and duo standard class 1 and 2 and vision impaired.
Sunday (6 September) will feature the women’s singles, combi freestyle and combi and duo Latin as well as the men’s singles class 1 and 2 and open powerchair singles.
A live broadcast of competition will be available. Follow @paradancesport on social media to get the latest updates.
