As in previous years and with the 2026 calendar set, attention has turned to the next season with the aim of securing the schedule early to enable athletes and teams to plan ahead. 

World Abilitysport Members and previous competition organisers have until 30 June to bid for: 

• 2027 Para Dance Sport World Championships 
• World Cups 
• International competitions  

Bids are also welcomed for hosts of National and International Classifiers Courses. 

Harry Cootes, Acting Chief Executive Officer of World Abilitysport, said: “As we have seen from previous editions, hosting a World Championships is truly a great opportunity to grab the spotlight and deliver a lasting impact nationally and internationally through Para dance. The last edition was a real viral hit on social media with performances from 230 dancers from 34 countries going round the globe repeatedly. 

“World Cups are an important part of that mix, providing qualification, practice and experience for Para dancers as they aspire to achieve the ultimate prize. International Competitions meanwhile are designed to be entry level events for athletes and hosts, creating a pathway that adds value for competitors and teams and underpins the development of the sport. All events whatever their level play a crucial important role.” 

World Para Dance Sport welcomes bids from World Abilitysport Members in good standing. Bids must include detail about the planned event such as which impairment groups will be included, what promotional and broadcast activity organisers will undertake and confirmation of the ability to offer classification and meet anti-doping requirements. Medal events for athletes with physical and vision impairments are available. 

The full bid application form can be downloaded from the World Para Dance Sport website, as well as guidelines for hosting the different levels of competition. 

After 30 June, World Para Dance Sport will evaluate all applications before successful organisers are informed in August. 

The 2027 calendar will then be announced in October.
